Back in June of '04 I and my wife came in and she recieved her first belly buton ring from ya'll.  Well she has had such good luck with the original barbell and ends, she needs a new one.  We have tried buying some from different local stores and all others seem to cause the infection to become infected or irritated.  I am wanting to know what gauge was actually used on her and what exactly is the item listed under online.  I have been browzing the website and am not seeming to find what I think I am to be looking for. Please assist me, I wish to buy a couple more to give her as a christmas present!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Would love to just come by but live in Texas.
Thanks A bunch L K

Hi Angel,

First off, please let me express my appreciation to you, Bryan, and the rest of your staff.  Brian did my PA on October 29 and I am very pleased with it.  Actually, proud of it!  Bryan, as always, was "just professional" enough to get me through my third piercing.  Bryan obviously has a knack with the people he pierces.  He seems to know exactly what to say and when to say it.  Please express my thanks for the great experience.  The PA seems to be healing nicely.

My next question is regarding another stretch of my nipples.  They were originally pierced with a 14 ga and Bryan stretched them in May of this year to a 12 ga.  In your opinion, when can I get them stretched to a 10 ga?  Am looking forwards to that soon, if possible.

Again, Angel, thanks to everybody there.  I don't know why anyone in their right mind would ever go anywhere else to get pierced.

Hey Angel-

It’s been a week since my 18 hour journey for my triangle and nipple piercing.  I just wanted to let you know that I love them all!

I wanted to thank you too for being so warm, understanding and professional in calming my apprehension.  It was totally crazy in your studio and yet you took your time making sure everything was placed just right and then double checking the markings again.  I also appreciated your explaining everything as you went along and always asking how I was doing.  My experience was very pleasant and I am already planning a return visit for my vch and possibly a set of outer labia rings.

Thanks again, I love my new piercings.

Dear Angel,

I came to ROD on Oct 29 while I was in New Orleans for a conference.  I had considered a naval piercing for some time but I guess I was just chicken.  I spoke to Jen to get information on your establishment and your sanitation techniques.  Pat did my naval piercing.  I found your staff to be extremely well spoken and knowledgeable.  They were very happy to answer any questions no matter how silly I thought they might be.  Pat eased my fears while he was setting up for the procedure.  He explained the after care in great detail and even gave me some advice on doing piercing.  I am a family doctor in Michigan and have considered learning the art to do in my office.  I would just like to thank you, Jen, and Pat for making my piercing experience a very enjoyable one.  I hope to visit again in the future.

Sincerely,

Hi Angel and Jen:

OK, I must admit it. I was nervous and apprehensive. You see, I've never had a body piercing of any sorts, not even an ear. I'm sure you can imagine my hesitation about getting a piercing, much less my nipple. Jen went above and beyond the call of duty in making sure my experience was not only pain free, but pleasant for both me and my partner. The level of professionalism demonstrated to us by not only Jen, but also the entire Rings of Desire staff was outstanding. From our initial greeting to the actual piercing, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Hats off to Jen for an outstanding job; I'd highly reccommend her to anyone. Not only did she guide us through the entire process, but made sure I was comfortable, both mentally and physically, throughout the process. The information she shared with me regarding after-care was immeasurable; I haven't experienced ANY problems whatsoever. Jen, thank you again for your high level of professionalism and compassion; you are an asset to the staff.

Hey Angel –

I just wanted to send you a note to thank you again for all your patience in answering my seemingly endless questions.  After visiting your site for a year and your personal and prompt replies to my emails, not to mention an ‘internet evaluation’ via pictures to determine if I was a candidate for the triangle piercing, I knew that I wanted to make the trek from Wisconsin to New Orleans to be pierced at Rings Of Desire.  While I’m sad that you will not be available to personally handle my piercing, I feel I will be in ‘good hands’ with Bryan on November 1, 2004.

Your website is the best and most straight forward, ‘tell it like it is’ site that I have found.  I appreciate that.  I hope you continue to pioneer the piercing industry forward in the positive way you already have.  I wish you continued success in all endeavors of both your personal and professional life.

You and you’re site are truly the BEST!!

Just wanted to send a note of thanks to Bryan- I had an appointment scheduled on Friday at 6pm (10/1/04) and was truly impressed with not only his professional behavior and knowledge, but the cleanliness of your business overall. The review of not only what I had researched about piercing, but of what Bryan informed me of was extremely thorough and much appreciated. You can be sure that I will recommend your business to anyone interested in getting a piercing.

Sincerely,

Subject: Thanks
I just wanted to take a minute to say how much I enjoy seeing  all the great comments and compliments.... I have to say all the great things they are saying are true, being a VCH piercee I must say that the entire experience was great, I felt comfortable and confident in the experience and how professional Bryan was.  Rings of Desire was actually recommended to me from several girlfriends of mine about a year ago; and they had all traveled from our home town of Lafayette to New Orleans to have it done and after taking their advice I can understand why.   Beginning with your very informative website right down to Bryan showing us out of the door was excellent.   I'll be back there this weekend and plan to see about another piercing... So anyone curious about doing this my advice would be do go ahead and do but do it right and it's well worth the traveling down to New Orleans to see Bryan;  today and am still  thouroughly enjoying my new Thunder Cat.

Hi Angel,

Hope this email finds you well.   I just had to let you know what a response this nostril jewelry has received.  Even in the piercing shop, when I showed the piercer both pieces (to help me decide which one-cause I loved them both) she said she has never seen such good quality jewelry and was pretty sure she couldn't get anything like that in Canada.  Everyone at the shop was looking at them and could not believe how beautiful they were.  Thanks so very much...and my nose seems to be clearing up too!  You and your staff were just great and I plan to be a "regular", although I realize I have to leave it alone for a while:)  I have also passed along your contact info to anyone who asks so hopefully you're getting more hits on your website and you'll get some more business from Canada, though I have a feeling you're not lacking for business. I feel really lucky to have come across your shop and your professionalism, willingness to help, together with the superior quality of your jewelry has just blown me away, as well as taken the stress out of this whole "piercing" thing for me.

Thank you...thank you...thank you...

just wanted to drop a note to say thank you, it's been about 7 weeks since I've had my piercing done, and all is going well.  Bryan is a definite asset to your business, not only did he do a great job, he went out of his way to make me feel comfortable, and he was so quick it was unbelievable.
I have another trip planned to the quarter, can you suggest a tatoo shop in the quarter?

Thanks again, I have spoken highly of your shop and of Bryan to all I have come in contact with.

Hi,
I wanted to say, I think what you are doing is great you are a real inspiration to all
of the new piercers out there. Your name has become synonymous with the safety
aspects of piercing as well as the new creative ground that is yet to be traveled.
The next time that I am in N.O. I will most certainly stop by to say hello!  I watched your
videos and was amazed with your technique!  The only question that I was left with
was 'what is that insertion guide attached to the jewelry?' I've looked high and low
and haven't got a clue.  Anyway fantastic site, fantastic job.  I hope that I get a
chance to meet you one day soon.

I would like to say thank you for having such a wonderful and informative website. Until Sunday my only piercing was my ear lobes. Sunday I became a happy VCH piercee. It's a piercing I have thought about for years but I never thought I would actually do it. Besides being a little shy I was concerned about the experience and training of the person doing the piercing. I knew I could never walk into a tattoo shop and trust just anyone with a needle. Recently it's been on my mind more and more so I decided to do some research on the Internet. One site led me to another and I eventually landed on your site. I was so impressed with your information, your experience and the training of your staff. When I saw your address I knew I would do it. I live 6 hours away but I'm in New Orleans a few times a year. I even remember walking by your shop when I was there in May. I immediately started planning a trip. I brought along my one friend who I knew wouldn't think I was crazy for moral support. He decided to get a piercing also. We had the first appointments on Sunday morning and we were sitting on the curb when your shop opened. I was so nervous my hands were shaking as I filled out the paperwork. Bryan performed our piercings. His crazy sense of humor kept things light. He explained everything that was going on and expressed the importance of cleanliness and aftercare. When he said, "
take a deep breath," I knew what that meant. I can't say it was painless but the pain only lasted a second and it was over. I was amazed. It was over and I couldn't tell that anything had happened. Even the 12-block walk to the car wasn't a problem. Bryan was great. He's my new best friend. I'll be back in NOLA soon and will definitely be back in your shop. I'm already thinking about another piercing.

Dear Angel,
I wanted to follow up my visit to Rings of Desire with a thank you note. As I have mentioned before, I sincerely respect and admire you for sticking to what you have a passion for. As a teacher, one of my final pieces of advice I give to graduating seniors is to find their passion and follow it. I often say, only half joking, that I have never worked a day in my life because I truly enjoy teaching and coaching and interacting with students in a positive manner.
After visiting your shop and being pierced by you I have even more respect for what you have accomplished. Your professionalism, enthusiasm and upbeat behavior made me feel like my piercing was as important to you as it was to me and despite the thousands you have done, mine mattered.
I have been diligently following your aftercare advice and I have had no problems at all so far during the healing process. Thank you again and best wishes for you and your business!
Sincerely,
Bob

Subject: admiration
Dear Ms. Angel,
I am writing to you to express my admiration for you and your strength to pursue your interests and freedom of expression. I was in your shop last week in New Orleans purchasing a new piece of jewellery for my wife's navel piercing and only recognized you after you went into a back area (I was the man in the chair who complimented your shoes if you can remember one incident in the many you have).
Indeed, it was an artistic picture of your wings a number of years ago that got me interested in body art, tattooing and piercing and I have since acquired three tattoos. Thank you for being so strong and professional. I truly believe that shops like yours have made body modification safe and quite close to mainstream.
Sincerely, A BIG, BIG Fan,

My name is S. and I received a piercing on Sun. with my friend J. I wanted to thank you all for being so professional and for answering all of my questions. Thank you for being personable and just a joy. I received the vertical hood and I can tell you it is the best thing since sliced bread. We were visiting New Orleans and I can tell you if I want other piercing I will love to let Brian or any of the staff members to perform it. Thank you for making me feel like I had a home away from home. I am healing fine and enjoying every minute of it with my husband (by the way he would kiss you all if he were there).
I just wanted to thank you all and someday I hope to meet Elayne in person which just the picture of her I know she is a beautiful person. I can tell you all that you have made 4 Hoosiers extremely happy. I hopefully will see you in the future. Also if you need some more surveys done for the case study at U of A then let us know I would love to participate.

Angel,

Thanks so much for all your help. Yes, I have been to New Orleans many, many times (I worked in the music industry all through the 80s, so I was there for lots of shows). I would love to have your people do my piercings, but I don't know when I will be down that way. In the meantime, your website offered a great overview of everything and I was so happy to find it. I feel so much more informed having spent time on your site.

Your personal response and concern means a lot to me, and is certainly a tribute to your professionalism and advocacy. I really appreciate it!

If you are ever up this way near Clarksdale, Mississippi, be sure to stop by our restaurant, Madidi, and our blues club, Ground Zero Blues Club. Our websites are www.madidires.com and www.groundzerobluesclub.com. I do media and promotions for both places and handle special events for my bosses, one of whom I'm sure you will recognize!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you!

Best regards,
Robin

March 5, 2004Dear Elayne,
I just had my VCH done last sunday at Rings of Desire.  Bryan was my awesome piercer!!
From when I first stepped into the store, I was greeted by you and you helped me choose my jewelry.  You are very sweet and give off an awesome vibe----by the way!  Thanks for making sure that I had food in my tummy with my complimentary snack----cOoL!

I talk on a piercing forum and people all over the world know of you and about you and speak very highly of you.  In fact, they told my to go to you,( a girl that lives in Vancouver---crazy huh?)  They were all jealous that I was able to meet you too!   YOU ARE A STAR!!  They mentioned that they would love to come to N.O. just to be pierced by you.

My piercing is doing awesome--never had even a bit of pain---NONE---Bryan was great!  He made me feel comfortable and very informative and kept my mind off of what was actually going on.  I have told many about you guys and would trust no one to pierce me again unless it was "Rings of Desire"

P.S.  my husband and I will be returning on sunday because he wants a PA. (*i think he got jealous of how cute my piercing is and wants to be jeweled too!)  Is there a piercer there that is like the master PA piercer????  I realize they are all good but he would just like to have one that has had done the most successful PA's.

Thanks so much for your time and giving me an experience worth sharing with everyone!!!

Hi Angel,
I've enjoyed the correspondence of getting meaningful e-mails instead of
jokes.
You might be the person that I talked to when I made my first order from the
Gauntlet in Los Angles (late 80's). I still have the PFIQ that you were in.
I'm just glad to know where I can purchase top of the line body jewelry,
because there sure is a lot of junk on the market.
I've done all my own piercing, Nipples , PA, 1 Frenum and Guiche. I don't
do anyone else.
I read your Bio and am very impressed with your integrity and dedication to
the piercing industry. Not everyone gets to pursue something they really
like and want to do.

Hey, and thanks for talking to me AGAIN!  You asked for feedback on the fourchette, and here's what I have to say:
After receiving a VCH and 2 inner labias from your shop, I had my mind set on a triangle.  I wasn't fit for that, so I wanted to look into the diana's.  I wasn't fit for those either!!  So, I originally wasn't really "into" the fourchette, but it was all I had left!!  I did get it, and I am so glad that I did.  I much more 'aware' of it than I am some of my other piercings, and that was noted immediately.  It adds to sensitivity in that area as well.
I've not been sexually active with it yet, but I'm dating someone now, so, I may be writing back to tell you about that soon *winks*.

You and your staff have done all of my piercings, some of them twice (repierced due to closing in the area) and I have never had any issues with infection or migration.  I've found other piercings that are available through other shops, and have always consulted you and trusted your opinion on them.  If you don't offer them at your shop, there has always been a good reason, and therefore, I've not gotten them.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to you and your staff for helping me in a professional manner, and for allowing me to progress in a journey of self-beautification safely, with the best educators the world of piercing has to offer.
Thank you again for all of your help, before and after each and every piercing.  I'm sure I'll be seeing you again as soon as I can find another place to put on!
Sincerely,
Christina

I cannot possibly recommend this company enough! The first piece I ever ordered from them was a 12 gauge tygon barbell with two internally threaded acrylic beads and a 12 gauge pin coupling taper. I had recently heard about tygon from Derek Lowe on rec.arts.bodyart, where he suggested it as a better alternative to PTFE. This was before tygon was as well-known as it is now, so I had an incredibly difficult time finding it. I could only locate it in medical supply catalogs, where I would have to buy it in bulk, rather than the measly inch or so that I wanted. After typing tygon into a search engine, I found that Elayne Angel suggested using it in a type of male genital piercing. So, I emailed her and asked if she would be willing to sell some to me. At the time, she did not offer tygon on her site, but she offered to sell me a length, anyway. She sent me about 2" of the tubing, with instructions to thread it onto the pin coupling taper, slide it through, trim off the excess with some clean nail scissors, and press the balls into the shaft. She was extremely helpful and accessible through email.

A few years later, I had my ear measured for a rook-daith industrial. I wanted a 16 gauge 316LVM astm f-138 internally threaded 5/8" curved barbell with green acrylic beads. Now, I'm not sure if you've ever tried to find an internally threaded 16 gauge barbell with ACRYLIC ends, but it is not nearly as easy to find as one would think. I emailed all of the usual suspects: Anatometal, Custom Steel, Design Machine, Steel Skin, etc, to no avail. I couldn't even find anyone willing to make a custom piece. Until I remembered Rings of Desire. Elayne gladly made the custom piece for me, and it is beautiful!

The jewelry is reasonably priced, in addition to being high quality. The metal is shiny and free of nicks, made of astm f-138 grade steel. In addition, the customer service was fantastic. Elayne answered my emails promptly, not only with information about my order, but she even gave me advice on piercings in general. I liked that Elayne, a renowed bodmod artist, answered the emails herself, rather than an underling who doesn't know about piercings, jewelry, or the company. Plus, they are the only company I have found that does custom work with acrylic. I would recommend Rings of Desire to anyone.

Hi,
I'm from Germany, and when researching about female genital piercings I found your site.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the great info you've posted there.
It has helped me to decide and get a VCH and both inner labias pierced (the latter is just 4 days old ;) ).
Your info is awesome, and it's great that you've posted what's normal and what's not - that has often soothed me.
Just keep going the way you do - it's a great site!
Hugs, Julie

New Orleans VooDoo
...Anyway, I had this cool trip coming up to New Orleans, and wrote a friend from rec arts bodyart and asked who was the best piercer there in New Orleans. Angel was the only person they mentioned. Come to find out, another friend had met her when she was at Gauntlet. What could possibly be more fun than an endorphin rush in the French Quarter? I went to find Rings of Desire on Tuesday to check it out. It's a great place, down by the French Market on the river.

I looked at jewelry, talked about what happens, and looked at the books. I was pretty nervous because I figured it would hurt. Plus I didn't know if I could tolerate the walk back to my room or not. After looking at the books, listening to the no alcohol or drugs rule and so on, I made an appointment. I really wanted to do it then, but I was trying to wait until all I had left to do in the week was optional stuff.

My big day came Friday. I was weak-kneed nervous. I went in, and Angel was doing email. After a bit, she came out. She was wearing a black leotard, tights, heels, and an English Bowler - really a fantastic look. We talked about what I wanted: "I don't give a flip what it looks like, I want sensation." So, then we went into the room and she did the prep things, explained as she went, and got a selection of beads. Originally I had thought horizontal, but I left that open because I knew she'd be more experienced and better able to judge what would fit my individual configuration.

I also asked her about my nipples cause they aren't healing very fast, so she told me to sea salt soak them, and Provon them twice a day.
She explained the whole procedure again, and since I still didn't wuss out, she got her stuff together, and started marking and sterilizing. The whole time she kept this incredibly elegant conversational tone going that really relaxed me. Yes, indeed, Angel knows her stuff. Every step of the way, she told me exactly what she was doing, and what people said it felt like, or what it DID feel like. Then came the big moment.

She put the tube up where it needed to go, and that felt odd, but not painful, and I said "Wait a second. Is this going to hurt?" She said "Just a pinch." I breathed deep and then she poked me. It was excruciating for as brief as I can possibly imagine excruciating, but then it didn't hurt at all. I was really really glad she didn't use clamps.

She put the jewelry in (14 ga CBR), with a purple ball, wiped me with a cool wipe, and gave aftercare instructions. I sat up, and waited a second or two for my head to clear. Then I got off the table and noticed I was bleeding just a very little. I got dressed, caught a cab, and partied all night on Bourbon St. I've only had one problem so far in that when I was sitting down on the plane to come home the seam on my jeans grabbed it. WHAAAAA. I stood up pretty damn quick, I'll say.

I haven't exactly 'tried' it yet, and I am looking forward to that. I don't feel it walking around, and other than the itchy day, I can totally ignore it most of the time. There wasn't any way I could ignore my nipples at all. It looks great, and isn't obvious on me - I wish I'd've had the nerve to do it a long time ago, really.

Angel's absolutely a wonder, and one of the best piercers there is. Next time I go, I think I'll do it all again, just because it was so fun!

I was pierced on March 2nd. On with the story....
I had been reading for a few months about piercings on BME for some info and stories. I was actually looking to just get an eyebrow ring, but of course I ventured into the "forbidden realms." My first thoughts were "oww OUCH! that looks soooo painful!!" I had to think though...I did get my tongue done and that didn't hurt at all...looks tend to be deciving so...I did a bit of reading. I never heard of a triangle before so I checked there first, out of curiosity. Wow! the were so pretty! Yeah..then I read the experiences (I'm a total wuss when it comes to pain) and thought "no way in hell." So then I checked out the labia, inner and outter....it didn't look as appealing though. I stumbled into the hood section, I remembered seeing a picture of a girl with one and how very beautiful it made her special little spot look. I began to get intrested as I read the stories. Originally, I had decided if I were to get a genital piercing it would have to be a horizontal hood. It looked very pretty and simple.

After a month of scrounging and saving (including a trip down the street to Rings of Desire to check pricing) I finally decided to do it. By this time it was BURNING in me; I would never forgive myself if I didn't get this done. I suppose I should mention it did take a bit of coaxing from my boyfriend (wow...isn't that the same way I ended up with my tongue piercing). Most of the time I just need a little shove to get everything rolling (it also helped that I promised him I would...and I don't break promises ^_^). Friday rolled around....the promise I made was the week before (during Mardi Gras actually) to get it pierced the week after. I talked my friend Josh (whom I work with) to take a walk down the street with me so I could get pierced. The whole time he was bugging me about what I was getting pierced. I finally told him, to which he said, "You are SO gunna chicken out. You're not gunna do it." That was the last bit of encouragment I had to hear! So he thought I was gunna wuss out...then that meant no matter what I had to go through with it.

As I walked up the stairs to the studio I still had it in my mind that I was going to get a HCH. For some reason I changed my mind at the last minute....like when Elayne said "What kind would you like?" I was embarassed, there were some guys around and other people....believe it or not I'm shy as hell. So I motioned her too me and whispered that I wanted a Verticle Clitoral Hood piercing. She smiled and told me no problem. Then on with the paper work. My hand was shaking a little and Josh kept teasing me. One of the other employees gave me a baggy with Provon and sea salt in it. I was given and information packet and told to rest on the couch and just wait. The same guy came back and gave me a Nutri-Grain bar (how sweet).

There I waited, luckily I was going to be the first person to be pierced. I had picked out a pretty clear ball with silver glitter. My butterflies had gone down by now; I had already paid and wasn't about to just walk out because I was scared of a little pain. "Kelly!" Oh yeah, I'm up! Elayne asked if I wanted company (talking about Josh) and much to his disappointment I said he could stay on the couch.

The room which I was getting pierced in was miracuously clean, much much more clean than the little room where I had gotten my tongue done (which was not Rings of Desire by the way). I undressed from the waist down as instructed and got up on the table. Elayne is the most sweet (and one the prettiest) people I've met. She let me ask all the silly questions I wanted, one's I'm sure she's heard a thousand times already...but she humored me a bit and began to explain. She checked me out and said I was good for the piercing, she also checked me for others, I'm also cool for a triangle and a HCH. She talks you through it all which is really nice, it made me feel at ease. She said it would probably hurt less than an ear piercing (which I was extreamly greatful to hear since those were really painful for me). She didn't lie though, she said there would be some slight discomfort and pain.

She slid a tube under my hood, which felt kind of strange. She had previosuly spoke about the needle and the instruments because she wanted me informed about what was happening even though I couldn't see it. "One, two...breath" Yah, I TRIED to breath...I knew the needle was coming and I stupidly tensed as it went through me. I let out a yelp and jerked upwards hard (I was scared for a moment because I thought I made the needle come out). I knew I yelled loudly, much more than what was necessary. It felt like a shot...but not as bad because there wasn't a burning feeling. She slid the jewlery in and told me the plastic ball would crack if it got bitten. I felt like an idiot for yelling so loud, so I was brooding a lil as she explained, for the second time (and more in depth this time) on how to clean and care for it. She gave me a panty liner and I put all my clothes back on. I gave her a hug and thanked her for making it such a pleasant experience for me. She was telling me you can learn alot about the body through piercings, which I firmly believe. You learn how your body works, different parts (I really didn't research parts of my genital...like there are SO many parts! until I decided to get pierced..why would I? I took it for granted unfortunatly).

Not only did I get pierced (and get a free pen ^_^**) Elayne asked me to participate in a study being run by a University (Kentucky I think) about the particular piercing I had gotten done and how it can help increase sexual pleasure. I agreed, filled out the forms and left.

I'm also considering getting a triangle in the next couple of weeks, but like I said...I'm not cool with pain. However, Elayne is lightning fast...so maybe it won't be as bad as I think.

I've been into the idea of body mods, and self expression since I was 17 years old, when I got my first "real" piercing a small silver bellybutton ring. After that I was hooked, and since then have dawned myself with 14 piercing and 2 tattoos. How ever it wasn't till recently that I discovered genital piercing, and became blown away with them. I became interested in them after I had my nipples pierced, and said to myself if I could do that, then I can defiantly do genital piercing.

So after much research, and contemplation, I decided to start off small, and get a VCH or vertical clitoral hood piercing, and then get a triangle piercing after the VCH healed and I was use to the healing process. So as a present to myself I decided that for my 20th birthday I would begin my journey. I had made my appointment to get pierced on June 28th 2003 one day after my birthday. I was to be pierced by Elayne Angel, one of the world's most renowned piercers.

I arrived early so I could calm myself down so I wouldn't be a shaky mess. Angel was very professional, but extremely comforting and that helped to easy my mind. I began to fill out my paper work, after she asked if I had eaten in the last couple of hours, I had a grilled cheese about 6 hours before I had arrived so she gave me a granola bar and a glucose pill, this was treatment I had never experienced before from other piercers, I liked it very much. Once was all said and done, I picked out my jewelry style, a simple curved el bar, and then Angel made her was upstairs to wash up and set up everything for my piercing.

Once she was ready she called for me, so my boyfriend who I brought along for moral support, and I proceeded upstairs. Once I reached the top it seemed to be have a very gothic atmosphere, black walls, black leather furniture, black tiled floor. Angel then lead me to a sliding door, and once she opened it, I could hardly believe it, the room was immaculate, I felt like I was at the doctors office. I then took off my pants and underwear and placed them on the coat rack in the corner, and hoped up on the table, in front of me the wall was completely mirrored so I could see everything Angel was doing, and to the side was a small doctors tray with everything needed to perform my piercing.

The piercing.
Once I was ready Angel examined me, and recommended that I use two different size balls, a larger one for the bottom and a small one at the top. Once we settled on the jewelry style again, she proceeded to clean me off, and mark the entrance spot for the piercing, while explaining every thing she was doing and was about to do. She continued to talk to me in-between the cleaning and prepping to keep my mind off of what was about to happen. She then was ready for the piercing, and opened the pack with the NRT (needle receiving tube), warmed it in her hand and placed it under the hood, this part was slightly uncomfortable because she pulled slightly on the hood to loosen the skin so it would become more relaxed rather then tight.

Angel then said "this will shock you more then hurt you, but the pain will be instantaneous and then it will be gone". I braced myself, hands on my stomach, and she watched me breath, once she felt I was ready, she said "take a deep breath" and she sl ipped the needle through. Out of shock from the sharp pinch my lower half jerked off the table, but then it was all over, she waited for me to regain my breathing to a normal rate, and she placed the jewelry in. Once it was in she place a cold cloth over the piercing which instantly took out the heat, and soothed it.

Once I sat up she was waiting next to me with a little glass of cold water and a panty liner in case it began to bleed. After I slipped my pants and underwear back on, I couldn't even tell the piercing was there. Before I left Angel went over the healing process with me, step by step, she gave me a small bag, in it was a bottle of Provon an antimicrobial/germicidal medicated soap, a small bag of sea salt, with a recipe for the soaking and a pamphlet for troubleshooting and aftercare.

The aftercare.
It has been nearly 8 days since I have had my piercing, and already I can tell that it is nearly healed. The piercing almost never bled, but two times in the first two days. Each day I perform 2-3 sea salt soaks for 1-2 min., which helps to stimulate air and blood circulation and then I use the soap twice a day also.

In my opinion the VCH is a very simple, starter genital piercing. Its attractive, stimulating at the same time, and you don't even feel that it is there. It also prepares you for any other piercing you might want down the line. I can't wait till I get my triangle next. :0)

I had been dating Kate for around two months. We both desperately wanted to get out of Philadelphia for at least a vacation, and decided to go to New Orleans, while the airline prices were still low. We booked what we knew was going to be the trip of a lifetime, and we were off. A couple of days before I left, my best friend stopped in at work with some amazing news. I try to keep up with the piercing scene in Philly, but am very loyal to my one piercer and shop, and hadn't looked at the New Orleans scene. But when my friend told me that Elayne Angel's shop is there, I decided right then and there that I was going to bring home a new piercing. The only trouble was deciding what to get. I can't have any obvious facial piercings, because I'm a waitress, and Philadelphia is for the most part not so understanding of these things. I already have a couple of holes in each ear, my tongue, and my inner labia done , though. I want to get my nipples done some time, but I'm not ready for it yet. So after much consideration, I decided on a Horizontal Hood piercing. They're not very common, and I know that many women are unable to get them done, but my piercer had already told me that I would be okay for it, if I wanted it, so I was sure that I wouldn't get denied.

Kate and I went to her shop, Rings Of Desire on the 18th of December for me to get pierced. We were digging the purple walls and the display case that turned itself. A place has to have some kind of décor that sets you at ease, or you just start off on the wrong foot. I
think it shows that they understand their customers better. (Kate got hers, a vertical nipple, done the next day.) Elayne struck me right off as friendly and confident. She is a wonderful conversationalist, and seems more than happy to talk trade. She saw that we knew what we were doing, and didn't treat us like morons, and we really appreciated that. Too many times, piercing shop employees talk down to people, especially if it's not plainly obvious when the people walk through the door, that they know what they're talking about. But Elayne was friendly, and in just a few minutes, after selecting my CBR and the bead (I chose red goldstone, because my labia already has a blue goldstone bead, and they have sort of a theme now.), she led me upstairs.

Kate came with me to hold my hand. (I still get all nervous, no matter how many times this happens. I don't think I'll ever stop.) Elayne was talking, and joking around, and just generally putting me at ease, because it was obvious I was nervous. She cleaned the area, and marked the entry and exit points with a black pen, and let me look at it with a mirror. Then she pulled at the skin to make it loose, and make sure not to get anything else in the way. (This would be bad. There's lots of nerve tissue down there...) She clamped it lightly, and had me deep breathe a few times, and then it was done. I think I may have squeaked a bit. In my head, I knew the worst part was ahead, though. The piercing is easy for me; I think I just must be a little bit numb. The putting in of the jewelry; there is where I become a whimpering bundle of pain. But before I really realized what was happening, the jewelry was in, and it didn't hurt at all. She had somehow avoided the entire hard part of the piercing for me. Her speed and practice are just amazing. She snapped in the bead, asked if I had any questions about aftercare, and spared me the whole rant when I said I knew what I was doing. Then she gave me my pen (She lets the piercees keep the pens she uses to mark them, which are printed with the name of the shop and stuff. I think it's cute.) and said she'd see us tomorrow, so that Kate could get pierced. I put some gauze in my underwear (I'd remembered to pack lots of skirts) and we left. I bought some Provon. It is the kind of cleaning solution that Elayne recommends, and I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. It is very gentle, but I don't notice a whole lot of difference between that and the liquid soap I had been using. Anyways, we went out for a bit, and then back to the hotel for the night. Being nervous tires you out a bit. I bled quite a bit for the first couple days, and then the bleeding slacked off.

It stopped hurting at all in about two weeks, and now almost a month later, I'm back to my usual sex life with no pain at all. Elayne did caution me to use a dental dam any time I was having sex, until it was healed, and I don't think that it can be stressed enough that safer sex is vitally important to healing piercings. It does not affect sex, and this I don't really mind. I get my piercings because of a desire to decorate myself. My body is my temple, and I'm in total control of the ornamentation of it. The mods have nothing to do with sex or the increasing of sexual pleasure; indeed, it's the furthest thing from my mind. I got a beautiful piercing done by a skilled piercer, and had an overall wonderful experience. And the souvenir value is priceless.

NO PAIN ! A beautiful Septum!

I have wanted a piercing (besides the ear)for forever, but my mom just hasn't ever been too agreeable with any of the ones that I would like done. This really makes no sense considering she has let me get a tatoo and a quite noticeable decoration straight through my conch and tragus. At first, way back in the 8th grade, I wanted to get my tongue done but that never happened. My interest in piercings started again a couple of years later when I started to see more and more different things being done. I want to eventually have double labrets, maybe my bridge, well....maybe many things. I keep seeing more and more piercings that spark my interest and I really enjoy the excitement of the whole experience. I also have one tatoo of a cross I designed. There was no pain involved with that really at all. It felt like hard hard scraping, thats it.
Now I am finally 18. Getting closer and closer to this birthday I began to do research on the best places and piercers around and came upon a nice little place called Rings of Desire in New Orleans.I met or spoke to breifly rather, the master piercer- Elaine Angel, she seemed very knowledgable and she was certified. I went back and did more research right here at BME looking for the right piercing for me,taking into consideration the ability to hide and looks, also the pain factor. I had heard that the septum is one of the most painful piercings but I have decided that that all depends on the person and there mindset. It is the most easily hidden though. This was the piercing for me, Mcdonalds nor mom would ever know the difference. After reading an interveiw done with Ms. Angel, here at BME, I knew she was the one I would trust to add another hole to my body. She is a lady who most definitely knows her stuff.
Today is the day and my boyfriend and I are headed to New Orleans. The whole time I keep pinching my nose to maybe get an idea of what kind of pain I would experience and that seemed to hurt alittle. It also would make my eyes water. I started to think again about getting this done. Finally I decided, I'm a Women, I can give birth for goodness sakes.
I went in told them what I would like to get done, altogether with jewelry( a 10g retainer) it was $61.00. Not too bad, I want it done right. She goes to prep and then leads me back to this very doctor office like little room. She tells me very detailed step by step what she is doing from very start to very finish. It made me feel very relaxed and safe(if your piercer does that then youve got a good one). She had me lie on a doctor's table and tilt my head back to where she could see down in there. She massaged my septum for a little while which made it all the more comfortable because it helped my nose get used to having something right there. Before I knew it the jewelry was in. No pain at all, in fact all of my ear piercings have hurt more, even stretching them out has hurt more than this.
While we were there my boyfriend decided to get both of his nostrils done. It was basically the same process except he got no massage and he stayed seated in the chair. It looks so awesome. I really can't say how the pain was om that one.
CAre should be pretty simple. I Musn't let this thing get infected, she made sure to get me very paranoid about all germs everywhere. I just put alittle of the soap stuff they gave me on there for right now. In a few days I should wiggle it. I tried that today on my first clean and almost passed on because of the fear that there would be excruciating pain. I also can soak my nose in warm water with maybe a bit of salt added to just loosen it up a bit. I'm just worried about blowing my nose. I'm glad I waited until my cold was gone.
If you are thinking about getting any piercing, do your homework, if you are more concered about the cost than the quality and your own safety then you run a very very good chance of getting butchered. It happened to my boyfriend twice. IT can be a very wonderful experience if done the right way. For me there was no pain, but that's always different for each individual. My secret is finding a peacful place within myself. I discovered that while at the dentist getting the novacane shot, which I despise. So I wish you luck and hope you enjoy your piercings as much as I do.

I had gotten my left nipple pierced on my birthday in early January. I was a good boy and did all my research like I was supposed to and I stumbled upon Rings of Desire here in New Orleans. Apparently Angel is a master in the field. I'd read about her on the net and in BMEInterviews--I thought I'd check it out.
I was on of those who never pictured himself pierced in a million years. Let alone getting my dick pierced I had actually told myself that I might get both nipples pierced and that would be about it. I never expected it to be going below the waist. It was very spur of the moment for me. i had been doing my research on the net and decided that it was time. I gathered the necessary materials and a bite to eat and I was off.
I entered the shop for the second time and like the first I was greeted with smiles. "Did the nipple heal ok?" I was shocked that they remembered. The counter guy--Todd--asked me what I was in for today. A prince albert i readily replied. He helped my choose my jewelry (14 ga captive bead ring) and explained to me the cleaning procedures. After paying my dues I was in for the wait.
Not long had passed before Angel had called me into the back room. Angel is just what her name implies. She has magnificently tattooed angel wings on her back and scales all down her legs. She's beautiful and has actually been interviewd in BME interviews.. She explained to me everything that was going to happen before it did. THe only thing left to do now is pull down my pants in front of this woman who I just met and let her shove a metal needle through my dick. ALRIGHT! She examined my area and since Im uncircumsized she told me that my anatomy would suit a piercing better if placed a smidge to the left--so be it. She actually showed me the thin membrane she was going to pierce. I was already a little nervous but once it set in my mind that it was actually going to happen I became real nervous. She remembered that Id had my nipple pierced too and told me that the pain is no comparison and it will be short, quick, and simple. Indeed it was.
She cleaned up my dick with some iodine and got to work. She inserted a recieving tube into the urethra to assist in the procedure. It was lubed to slide down a little easier--but it still felt a little weird.. --She warned me about that anyway. She told me to take three deep breaths but after the second she suprised me and pierced unexpedtedly sooner than Id planned. But I continued breathing because I really didnt think anything had happened. I just figured she pushed the tube as far as it needed to go. But in literally a FLASH "piercing's done jewelry is in--youre ready to go" It was so ridiculously fast.
She wrapped me with some gauze and wrapped a glove around the area. She said it might bleed a bit and kindly sent me on my way. She gave me a smile and I left with a smile. When I got home I opened the bandage to check it out and it had not bled just a bit--it bled A LOT--probably each time I got a hard on. I was prepared for some blood but this was absurd. But its normal I kept saying to myself. It bled a lot the first night too. I wawoke in the middle of the night to find my tighie whities blood-soaked. I changed them and slept the night away. THe next morning I got up and warmed a little cup of water for me to pee in. Boy did peeing hurt. It stung like a mother fucker. It lasted for only a few days no longer than a week but it was bad when it lasted. I read about this on the net too--I knew it was normal to sting when you pee but peeing is healing. 2-3 weeks into the healing process I was ready to test out the effectiveness of my new piercing--and boy did it work. It stimulates those deep down nerves for ooh so good sensations.....
It wasnt long at all before I was walking normal again and just doing routine cleanings in the shower. Would I recommend a Prince Albert--of course. I mustve shown my dick to beaucoup people at this point in time. Would i recommend getting pierced at RINGS OF DESIRE?--Ive been back a four more times for a total of six piercings.

My girlfriend and I wanted to get pierced together. Well we didn't want to be *actually* pierced to one and other just at the same time g.
I was unsure if I wanted a frenum or a lorum piercing, but after talking to the folks at Rings of Desire, I decided on a lorum. There were lots of interesting pictures, especially one of a ring that went around the base of the penis which was fastened underneath by a barbell. They were very friendly and answered all of our questions. Even the nervous newbie ones. They showed us pictures from their gallery of what the piercing would look like, and helped us pick out jewelry. Generally they let us take whatever time we needed to take, a very nice consideration.
Since this was my first piercing I wanted Angel herself to do the deed. It costs a couple of extra bucks for her to do it, but let me tell you, it was worth it! More on this later on...
I was taken into the purple piercing room. Angel likes purple, who knew? She prepared everything she needed. I was very impressed by the absolute cleanliness of the facility! Everything was completely sterile, more so than I've seen at a doctor's office. We told her that we were both first timers, and speaking for myself, I was very nervous. Angel was very reassuring and soothing as she finished up her preparations. It was time to do it. After all of the anticipation, it was time to get pierced.
She made her marks and double checked them. Then she checked them again! Angel believes in doing things right. She had me stand and sit so that the ring would be in the right place. Then she placed a clamp (forcep? I was too scared to look honestly!) onto my scrotum so that she could get at the area unhindered. Before doing so she warned me that there will be a little pinch. I'm into BDSM so it wasn't the first time I've had something clamped to my boy parts. Turns out that was no big deal either, it didn't hurt at all.
Then Angel said, "Are you ready to do this?"
I nervously replied "Yes".
She counted to three and perforated me. It was wonderful! Yes there was a little pain, after all I just got stuck in a very tender area. Honestly by the time I felt the needle, she was done. I really enjoyed the feeling of being transfixed by the needle. It was very cool in a Clive Barker kind of way.
Then it was time for jewelry insertion. I chose a really neato 12 gauge black niobium ring with a blue bead. She rotated it into my new piercing. Feeling the ring slide into me and through me provoked a reaction. I got hard! This proved endlessly amusing to my girlfriend who had just gotten pierced herself (she said she was interested in posting her experience here as well, so make sure to check back).
Even Angel was amused I think, but being the consumate professional she is suppressed the smile and just said cheerily "Well that's a really good placement!" She popped the bead onto the ring. My girlfriend said that the bead I had picked out was a little too small. Angel asked me if I would like to look at some bigger ones. I said sure and she happily went off to get a couple of different ones. I figured that the piercing was not only going to be for my pleasure but my girlfriend's as well.
It's now seven months later and I just love my piercing. I found that the large ring was a bit too unwieldy for everyday wearing. My job requires a lot of running back and forth, so I've since gone back to Rings and picked up a barbell with smooth looking hematite balls on the end. My girlfriend and I are starting to discuss where else I can get some hardware put in.
Did I hear someone ask about healing time? Why sure, I had a pretty good 'John Wayne' walk for the first day or so but that soon passed. I was only out of action for about five days to a week when it wasn't too tender for ummmmm activity. It was completely healed at about the five month mark. I wasn't sore for that whole time mind you, it was just at that time I felt that it had healed enough to go back to swimming and hottubing and such.
Since then we were honored by a friend of ours, who asked us to go with her to get pierced, after seeing ours and hearing about what a great experience it was for us.
If you are ever in the New Orleans area (and by gum everyone should visit at least once), I can wholeheartedly recommend Rings of Desire. All of the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They are *very* good at what they do. Now about that frenum, maybe the nipples....
