Care Information for Emu Oil |
Emu oil is
a natural emollient that is soothing, and appears to accelerate healing! It
is a non-irritating, hypo-allergenic anti-inflammatory and does not clog pores.
We love it!
Note that it is not a vegan or vegetarian product.
Care Solution:
Pure Emu Oil (shake well before use)
In addition, mild non-iodized (no iodine) sea salt soaks as described here.
Instructions:
Body piercings need to be cared for 2-3 times daily, every day, for the entire
initial healing time. Most people clean morning, noon, and night. After the
shower is a good time to apply Emu Oil. (After the first week 2x daily is fine.)
1. Before touching your healing piercing, wash hands thoroughly with liquid
antibacterial soap and warm water. If you wish, you may wear disposable latex
or vinyl gloves and/or also use a hand sanitizing gel. Never, never touch healing
piercings with dirty hands! This is vital for avoiding infections.
2. If there is any crusty matter remove it by using a cotton swab and warm water,
or a warm salt water soak (see here).
Never pick with fingernails!
3. Gently massage on a single drop of Emu Oil to the area and jewelry with your
clean fingers. If you like, you may gently rotate the jewelry back and forth
a few times to work the solution to the inside of the piercing. (You should
not rotate your jewelry during the first several cleanings).
Please try to be patient. Each body is unique, and healing times can vary considerably.
If your piercing is tender or secreting you should continue the care regimen,
even if it is past the stated average healing time range.
DON’T TOUCH HEALING PIERCINGS WITH DIRTY HANDS!
Emu oil also works great on mosquito
and other bug bites and stings, rashes, and dry irritated skin!
